Hi, I’m Edliz Vazquez


I've been a helping professional for almost 10 years. In that tenure, I've heard quite a bit of what makes my clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to make the changes they want in their lives. I've also heard what has made them terminate relationships with other clinicians. I believe most people enter this profession to be a helping hand and I've realized how much I want to help support my colleagues in being able to do just that.

Fundamental Strategies for Building Ethical and Effective Relationships with Clients

Research shows that the counselor and client alliance is the number one indicator of whether or not the counseling journey will be successful for a client. Sometimes, counselors may struggle to develop a strong alliance due to discomfort with effective relationship-building strategies such as confrontation, the use of humor, touch, broaching and self-disclosure. Without the incorporation of these techniques, clients often feel unchallenged and grow restless in the counseling process. This program aims to support mental health professionals in becoming comfortable with these techniques while continuing to maintain ethical considerations.
